The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD) invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Director: Language Services. This role is based at the National Office in Pretoria and is responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of language policies and services within the Department.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in:

    • Language Practice

    • Language Planning
      (SAQA recognized)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years administration experience in:

    • Language practice

    • Interpreting at functional level

Language Requirements

  • Tshivhenda, Xitsonga or South African Sign Language (depending on the post)

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Public Service legislative framework:

    • Public Service Act & Regulations

    • Treasury Regulations

    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

    • Financial management & regulatory frameworks

  • Procurement processes

Key Duties / Responsibilities

The Assistant Director will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating the development of departmental language policies and strategies

  • Monitoring the implementation and performance of language policies

  • Coordinating language policy awareness campaigns within the Department

  • Coordinating international and non-governmental forums on official languages

  • Providing effective people management and leadership
